Rookie tight ends aren’t usually great bets for fantasy football success. However, when a team’s other receiving options are all injured, a rookie may find himself with a few extra targets. Such is the case of Evan Engram, who is having a solid fantasy season and, with few other healthy options in New York, he could keep it up. Engram hauled in five receptions for 82 yards and a touchdown in the Giant’s upset win over the Broncos and this Sunday he faces the Seattle Seahawks, who also have a formidable defense. Seattle has only given up one touchdown to tight ends this season, but it did let Tyler Higbee go for 98 yards against it in Week 5.
Fantasy football rankings 2017: Tight ends for NFL Week 7
The SB Nation fantasy staff rounds up the rankings for the top 25 tight ends for Week 7.

Week 6 was good to those who have routinely turned in top 10 performances this season. Rob Gronkowski led the way, but we also saw Cameron Brate and Zach Ertz get it done. Hunter Henry may have finally taken over as the Chargers’ main tight end and Austin Seferian-Jenkins stayed hot despite averaging 1.3 yards a catch. Conversely, Jordan Reed continues to be steady source of frustration. He and Vernon Davis are essentially splitting snaps and Davis is doing more with his opportunities. Reed isn’t healthy, Kirk Cousins is spreading the ball around, and Chris Thompson is taking his share of the short passes. I wouldn’t blame you if you wanted to bench Reed until he actually does something.
The Lions are on bye this week and if you are still holding onto Eric Ebron, why? Darren Fells has 3 touchdowns in 2 games and Ebron is an afterthought on an offense that is struggling. The Houston Texans are the only other team on vacation, but no one will really miss Ryan Griffin.
Looking ahead to Week 7, even though it didn’t pay off last week I would still suggest starting any tight end facing the New York Giants. That means Jimmy Graham is in a good spot if the Seattle offense can get it together on the road. Delanie Walker has been a disappointment so far, but he did see eight targets Monday night. If he gets the same type of attention against the Cleveland Browns, he will likely turn in his first big game of 2017. Austin Hooper collected seven receptions with Mohamed Sanu out. If Sanu sits again then I’m very tempted by Hooper’s matchup against the New England Patriots defense.
