Tight end Vernon Davis was the leading receiver for Washington heading into last Thursday’s matchup with the New York Giants. The veteran big man was shutout in the win and was only targeted once in the contest. Davis has played solid for the most part this season. He only has four games with fewer than 50 yards receiving, but he has not scored a touchdown since Week 3.
Fantasy football Week 13: Start or sit Vernon Davis for TNF?
Davis went from lead receiver to ghost against a bad defense in Week 12. We look at the fantasy implications.

Davis was noticeably quiet in the first meeting with the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8. He caught two passes for 20 yards in the contest. Davis is averaging fewer than 22 yards receiving against teams in his division this season, including a shutout against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1. The Cowboys are much better at defending tight ends than the Giants. They do have holes throughout the defense due to injuries and personnel changes, however.
Fantasy impact: Davis is a different player against division teams. It is pretty incredible how he struggled against the Giants, who gave up the most touchdowns and third-most yards to tight ends this season. Davis has another favorable matchup vs. the Cowboys Thursday night. The Cowboys are operating in panic mode on the defense with all their problems. Davis should be able to exploit the turmoil. He could also tank again facing a divisional team. Given the pieces the Cowboys are missing, Davis has flex potential. It is a risky start still.
