The Kansas City Chiefs’ 5-0 start is a distant memory now. After losing six of their last seven games, the Chiefs have fallen back to .500 and find themselves in must-win territory against the Oakland Raiders.
Fantasy football start/sit Week 14: What to do with Alex Smith
Smith and the Chiefs’ offense has gone in the tank. We break down the fantasy implications.

The regression of Alex Smith is a big reason for the Chiefs’ collapse. Entering Week 13, he had thrown just three touchdowns to four interceptions in the last three games, as the calls for Patrick Mahomes got louder. Smith did bounce back with a strong performance against the New York Jets, throwing for 366 yards and four touchdowns. Unfortunately, the Chiefs also lost that game as their defense fell apart.
Fantasy impact: Smith’s struggles have been well-documented by now, but last week’s performance was a reminder of how powerful the Chiefs’ offense can be when it’s functioning right. Smith has another good matchup this week with the Oakland Raiders, who are allowing the 11th-most fantasy points to quarterbacks.
While Smith is no longer a surefire QB1, you have to figure he’ll light up one of the worst defenses in football. He had 342 yards and three touchdowns when these teams last met in Week 7.
Recommendation: Start
