Week 14 of the fantasy football season is here, and we’re back with another crop of start/sit options. We have a nice set of data about each team through 13 weeks and can make informed decisions on good plays and traps. With that in mind, we’ll pick tight ends who should exceed expectations in Week 14, along with three you should probably sit.
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 14: Tight ends
We break down the top starting options at tight end this week, along with some players who should be avoided.

Start
The Broncos’ biggest weakness on defense is containing the tight end position, having allowed the third-most fantasy points in the league. As long as the refs don’t inexplicably take away yet another touchdown from the poor guy, ASJ should finally be able to post solid numbers here, especially with Aqib Talib back in action to slow down the red-hot Robby Anderson.
The Giants are dead last in allowing point to tight ends. Witten is obviously not still in his prime, but he kills the Giants, including Week 1 this season and has had 10 days to prepare for this one. It could be the last great hurrah for the Cowboys’ warrior.
Stephen Anderson, Houston Texans vs. San Francisco 49ers
Will Fuller is expected back this week, but Braxton Miller and Bruce Ellington are not, which will keep Anderson on the field and involved in the offense. Anderson came up huge last week, and Tom Savage will likely dial him up plenty against the suspect 49ers defense.
Sit
With the possibility of Nathan “five picks” Peterman drawing the start for the injured Tyrod Taylor, and Kevin Benjamin back in the lineup at wide receiver, this is a full-fade spot for Clay despite his recent solid play.
The Buccaneers get killed by wide receivers, but against tight ends, the Bucs allow the second-fewest fantasy points. Ebron has been much more consistent the past five weeks but not close to the level that demands he is matchup-proof.
Cook was a massive bust last week against a Giants defense that begs opposing tight ends to crush them. Perhaps most alarming for Cook owners was the amount of volume soaked up by Clive Walford. Don’t be fooled by Cook’s huge game against the Chiefs earlier this season. He’s not the same guy right now, and the Chiefs are much tougher at home.
