It’s the moment of truth. Week 16 marks Championship Week in fantasy football, with league trophies and bragging rights up for grabs across the nation. Whether you made it this far, or are stuck in a consolation playoff system (or still playing into Week 17 for some reason), it’s important to still monitor the waiver wire.
Fantasy football waiver wire: Best quarterbacks available in Week 16
We explore the best waiver options with the fantasy championships on the line this week.

One of the big stories of Week 15 was Aaron Rodgers coming back from a collarbone injury, but he was hardly the conquering hero fantasy owners were hoping for. Rodgers threw three interceptions and clearly looked rusty as the Green Bay Packers lost. Just about out of playoff contention, it’s not a guarantee that Rodgers finishes the season after arguably coming back too soon.
Otherwise, here are the big waiver options at quarterback in Week 16, owned in 50 percent or less of Yahoo! standard leagues.
Tyrod Taylor, Buffalo Bills (38 percent)
Taylor had a perfectly good Taylor-esque game, not quite stuffing the stat sheet but avoiding turnovers and making plays with his legs. He helped put away the Miami Dolphins without much struggle, finishing with 224 yards and two touchdowns (one passing, one rushing) on 17-of-29 passing. Now the big concern: his matchup with the New England Patriots this week. Taylor was dreadful against the Patriots in Week 13 before being sidelined with a knee injury. He’ll be a risky QB2 for the fantasy finale.
Eli Manning, New York Giants (33 percent)
The Giants have been openly phoning it in since October, but at least Manning woke up a little. He kept his team in the game while carving up a suddenly suspect Philadelphia Eagles defense, racking up 434 yards and three touchdowns on 37-of-57 passing. It’s obviously his biggest game of the season, and fantasy owners should be hesitant to chase stats in the playoffs. The Giants continue their lame-duck season against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 16.
Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers (30 percent)
Don’t look now, but the 49ers might have found their franchise quarterback when everyone least expected it. Garoppolo wasn’t expected to be much more than a cameo when San Francisco acquired him, but he got the start in Week 13 and suddenly the 49ers have won three straight games, with Garoppolo putting up 300 yards in back-to-back weeks. His latest piece was an impressive comeback win over the Tennessee Titans. Garoppolo is an exciting asset in dynasty leagues, but he’ll have a brutal matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars this week.
Nick Foles, Philadelphia Eagles (26 percent)
Foles is an obvious downgrade from Carson Wentz, but he avoided turnovers and did enough to beat the New York Giants, who came way too close to a shocking upset. Foles threw four touchdown passes and 237 yards on 24-of-38 passing, avoiding turnovers and generally keeping the offense on schedule. That’s an encouraging sign for the Eagles as they try to move on without Wentz. Foles has another appealing matchup with the Oakland Raiders, who don’t really have anything left to play for.
