At age 30, Jonathan Stewart has settled in as a specialist role for the Carolina Panthers, mostly getting his touches on early downs and in short-yardage situations. Through 14 games, he has 191 carries for just 661 yards and six touchdown, averaging 3.5 yards per carry.
Fantasy football Week 16: Jonathan Stewart, start or sit?
Stewart remains a boom-or-bust grinder. We break down the fantasy implications.

It’s the touchdown category where Stewart gets his theoretical value, though he doubled his season total in just one game, scoring three times against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 14. That was also just his second 100-yard performance of the season. Stewart fell back to Earth last week, managing only 27 yards on 11 carries in a win over the Green Bay Packers.
Fantasy impact: Stewart is what he is at this point, prone to either huge peaks or deep valleys. It’s anyone’s guess which week will be which, but he’ll have one of his better matchups with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in fantasy championship week. The Bucs give up the fourth-most fantasy points to running backs, and Stewart found the end zone the last time these teams played in Week 8. A boom-or-bust flex play is about what we can expect here.
Recommendation: Start if you’re desperate
