The Atlanta Falcons will need a big outing from starting quarterback Matt Ryan against the Carolina Panthers Sunday to keep their playoff hopes alive. Ryan had one of his better games of the season against the Panthers in Week 9, throwing for 313 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception in the loss. Unfortunately, the 10th-year veteran has struggled lately. Ryan has been held to 288 yards or fewer the last four games. He also has four interceptions to just three touchdowns in the last three contests. Ryan was sacked a season-high five times Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.
Fantasy football Week 17: Start or sit Matt Ryan?
Ryan needs a big game to keep the Falcons’ playoff hopes alive. We break down the fantasy impact.

Beating the Panthers’ defense will not be easy for Ryan Sunday. The Panthers have a strong front seven that has the third-most sacks in the NFL. Their secondary is much weaker, giving up the 11th-most touchdowns in the league. They also only have 10 interceptions this season.
Fantasy impact: Ryan cannot hold back in Week 17 because the Falcons have to win, or they could go home. He should throw a lot of passes in this contest. If his offensive line can hold the Panthers’ front seven back, he will have a great game. The problem is they just allowed Ryan to be sacked five times and hit over 10 times. The Panthers are just as ferocious as the Saints. Ryan could be looking at another error-filled, low-scoring Sunday. Best leave him on the bench the final game of the season.
