Week 17 of the fantasy football season is here, and we’re back with another crop of start/sit options. A lot of players will be held out or see diminished roles, giving others rare opportunities. With that in mind, we’ll pick quarterbacks who should exceed expectations in Week 17, along with three you should probably sit.
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 17 Quarterbacks
We break down the top starting options at quarterback this week, along with some players who should be avoided.

Start
There’s no more terrible week to play fantasy football than Week 17, because so many teams have nothing to play for and are sitting their starters or only playing them sparingly. But there are a handful of teams with everything to play for, and the Chargers are atop the list. The Raiders have been shredded by opposing offenses for most of the season and with Melvin Gordon likely limited, it’s all going to be in Rivers’ hands.
The Lions are out, but they are not mailing it in this week. The Packers have thrown the white flag, and their secondary was a gas can even when they were going all-out. This should be like target practice for Stafford, who quietly put together a terrific season for fantasy owners.
The Rams are sitting their key players, while the 49ers continue to ride a wave of great play since Garoppolo took over as the starter. Bill Belichick really didn’t want to trade Jimmy G, and now we know why. He should have one final gem before the most optimistic football offseason in recent Bay Area history.
Sit
Mike Tomlin isn’t playing him, and neither should you.
Jared Goff, Rams vs. 49ers
Sean McVay isn’t playing him, and neither should you.
Andy Reid isn’t playing him, and neither should you.
