The first year in the NFL was a tough lesson for Buffalo Bills wide receiver Zay Jones. The Bills’ second-round pick was marred by drops in his rookie campaign. Jones caught 27 passes on 74 targets for 316 yards and two touchdowns this year. His catch rate was just 36.5 percent. He struggled in the beginning and at the end of the year, but Jones put together a good stretch in Weeks 8 through 12. He had at least three receptions in each of those games and reached a season-high 68 yards in Week 11. Jones also caught both of his touchdowns during that period.
Zay Jones aims to be more consistent in 2018
Drops marred the Bills’ rookie wideout last season. He needs to improve dramatically before 2018.

Looking ahead to 2018
Jones has a lot of things to work on in the offseason. There could also be a new play caller running the Bills offense in 2018. Regardless, Jones needs to improve his hands. The Bills had reasonable expectations for their rookie deep threat, but they were much higher than a 36 percent catch rate. He will also have to work on building rapport with the QB, whoever that may be. Jones still has admirable speed, however. He will be dangerous once he gets better. Too early to say if that will be next season especially sharing targets Kelvin Benjamin and Deonte Thompson.
Fantasy Slant
Few owners will be looking at Jones to start the season. His rookie season was very underwhelming and a little bit concerning. Jones will go late in drafts if he is drafted at all. He has a season under his belt now though. With some offseason improvement, Jones could break out next year.
