The Seattle Seahawks were terrible at running the ball this season. Part of their struggles were due to the loss of their seventh-round rusher, Chris Carson. Carson emerged as the workhorse in a loaded backfield early in the season before suffering a severely broken leg and high ankle sprain in Week 4 vs. the Indianapolis Colts. He was placed on IR, effectively ending his rookie season.
Chris Carson is slated to be Seahawks’ fantasy workhorse in 2018, barring setbacks
Seattle’s rushing game woes should turn around when their seventh-round draft pick returns to field next season.

Prior to the injury, Carson showed he could handle the load as a feature back. He was the only Seahawk RB to rush for 90 yards in a game this season. Carson amassed 208 yards on 49 carries and caught seven passes for 59 yards and a touchdown in just four games. He ended the season with just 32 fewer rushing yards than Mike Davis, the Seahawks’ leading running back last season.
Looking ahead to 2018
Carson had all year to recover from his leg injury. He was rumored to potentially be able to return this season postseason if the Seahawks made the playoffs. Next year, Carson is sure to be a force to be reckoned with. The Seahawks were desperate for rushing yards in 2017; the leading rusher on the team ended up being QB Russell Wilson. Carson will be Seattle’s workhorse in 2018 barring setbacks.
Fantasy slant
Many owners are going to be excited about Carson next season. He should be past his catastrophic leg injury next season given how much time he had to recover. Carson will go early in most drafts, no later than the fifth or sixth round across all leagues. Barring setbacks, he should be an RB1 all year in 2018.
