There was very little to get excited about in the New York Giants’ offense in 2017. Rookie running back Wayne Gallman was one of the few silver linings in their abysmal season. The fourth-round pick finished the season as the second-best back in the Giants’ backfield. Gallman rushed 111 times for 476 yards and caught 34 passes for 193 yards and a touchdown in his rookie year.
Wayne Gallman has bright fantasy outlook in 2018
The New York Giants’ rookie rusher has the best shot to emerge as the workhorse next season in Pat Shurmur’s new offense.

Looking ahead to 2018
The Giants want to turn their offense around fast in 2018, and Gallman has a lot of things playing out in his favor headed into the summer. First, Orleans Darkwa will be a free agent; he is likely headed somewhere else in the offseason along with 28-year-old Shane Vereen. Further, the Giants are also at odds with Paul Perkins. That leaves Gallman the last running back standing.
The Giants will also have a new head coach, former Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur. Shurmur made the running game a priority in Minnesota and put together one of the strongest backfields in the league in 2017. With holes in so many other places on the offense, Gallman is bound to have an improved season in 2018 as a starter or backup rusher.
Fantasy Slant
Gallman has a lot of fantasy potential, especially if he takes over the starting role next season. Nothing seems to be standing in his way for now, and f the Giants tighten up the holes on the offensive line, Gallman has the potential for a breakout season next year. He should catch owners’ eyes around the seventh round of next year’s draft.
