The Chicago Bears made a hefty investment in the 2017 draft to get Mitchell Trubisky at No. 2 overall. Now, they need to get the former North Carolina quarterback some help. The year was tough for the rookie, as he started the season on the bench behind Mike Glennon before taking over the starting role in Week 5. Trubisky managed to throw for 2,193 yards, seven touchdowns, and seven interceptions in 12 games.
All eyes in Chicago are on Mitch Trubisky’s development in 2018
The Bears hope their new offensive-minded head coach Matt Nagy can help evolve Trubisky’s game next season.

The Bears’ passing game problems extended far beyond Trubisky in 2017. Their receiving corps was essentially non-existent this season. The Bears’ best receiver, Kendall Wright, had 614 yards and one touchdown all year. Every other receiver on the team was held to 376 yards or fewer.
Looking ahead to 2018
The Bears made big changes this offseason. They fired John Fox and brought in former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy to run the team. Nagy was a big part of the Chiefs’ offensive overhaul in 2016 and he helped lead them to the AFC West title this season as the team’s offensive playcaller. The Bears are hoping Nagy can develop Trubisky into a marquee QB quickly. Chicago also needs to get receivers in the offseason if they plan to see any improvements in the passing game.
Fantasy Slant
Trubisky has a lot of potential. He is drawing comparisons to Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff, who had an excellent sophomore season after struggling his rookie year. The Rams, like the Bears, changed coaches after Goff’s rookie year. It is hard to say if Trubisky will have the same type of turnaround next season. Consider him a sleeper backup QB for now. He could be a valuable asset later in the season if Nagy can work his magic.
