The New England Patriots seem to have a thing for former Cincinnati Bengals running backs. In 2017, the Patriots signed former Bengals running back Rex Burkhead to a one-year deal that they extended for three-years starting in 2018. In the first week of free agency this season, the Patriots signed Bengals rusher Jeremy Hill to a one-year deal worth $1.25 million. Hill enters a crowded backfield that includes James White, Mike Gillislee, Brandon Bolden, and Burkhead.
Jeremy Hill seeks new fantasy life with the Patriots
Hill and the Patriots reached a one-year deal worth $1.25 million for 2018. We break down the fantasy impact.

Hill hopes to revive his career in New England. He had a breakout rookie year in Cincinnati before stringing together three lackluster seasons in a row. Hill averaged just over three yards per carry each season since 2015 as the starter for the Bengals. In 2017, his year was cut short after an ankle injury landed him on injured reserved. Hill had 37 carries for 116 yards and no touchdowns through seven games last season.
Fantasy impact: Moving to the Patriots does not help Hill’s fantasy stock on paper. He is currently fourth on the depth chart. If he makes the team, he will likely remain buried in the Patriots’ running game. Fantasy owners best hope for Hill would be a red-zone role. He is shaping up to be a touchdown-or-bust rusher next season.
