The NFL season is sneaking up on us, so it is time to break the glass on your 2025 fantasy football draft plan. And if you have a plan for each position under glass, break the tight end one and let’s take a look. First off, tight ends are the most annoying position for fantasy. Once you get past the Top 3-5 guys, you’re in for some real inconsistent fantasy scoring. That might make you reach for Trey McBride or Brock Bowers in the first round, but we’re still choosing between them and some very high upside plays at positions where you need to start multiple players.

Later round tight ends
If one of the top tight ends doesn’t fall, which they usually don’t, I’ll try to cobble together a consistent tight end out of two players later in drafts. But, even if I have the bench space for a backup tight end, I’m going to be open to grabbing someone off waivers to stream if that option looks better than who I have rostered.
Jake Ferguson, Cowboys (ADP, 130)
I don’t believe in Ferguson as a possible top tier tight end, but that doesn’t matter all that much here. We know the Cowboys are going to continue to be pass heavy. We know the team just paid Ferguson, meaning he has no competition from other tight ends for targets. And we know the last time Dak Prescott played a full season in 2023, Ferguson ended up with 71 receptions for 761 yards and 5 touchdowns. Those aren’t huge numbers, but they were enough for fantasy TE8, which I’d be happy with at his ADP of TE14.
Chig Okonkwo, Titans (ADP, 174)
Okonkwo is an athletic machine with speed, size and hands. He has upside for days. Unfortunately he has had to rotate with other tight ends on the team so far in his three year career. He’s topped 50 receptions the last two seasons, but that was on limited playing time. That playing time should get a bump this season, as he was the no-doubt starter during preseason and he stayed in the game while Cam Ward was behind center. The Titans should be better this season with their No. 1 pick Ward while Okonkwo should be in line for more targets as a full time player.
