It was an up-and-down day for Tiger Woods as he tried to make up ground at the Frys.com Open. After play was suspended for darkness on Friday -- forcing players to finish their rounds on Saturday morning -- the third round began on split tees, with Woods starting on the back nine. And he began with a bogey-free nine holes, getting to 2-under on the day and climbing the leaderboard early.
2011 Frys.com Open Leaderboard: Tiger Woods Finishes Solid Third Round
By the time Woods got to the third hole -- his 12th of the day -- he was at 4-under for the day and just three shots off the lead. But he couldn’t maintain his momentum, with a bogey on No. 3 bringing him back to earth and another on No. 7 turning what could’ve been a great day into merely a solid one.
Woods finished his round with a birdie on No. 9, his 18th hole of the day, to get back to 3-under for the round and 4-under for the tournament. As it stands now, Woods is locked in a tie for 27th, six shots off the pace. Ernie Els holds the lead by himself at 10-under for the tournament, though he still has eight holes to play.
