WGC-Accenture Match Play 2013: Golfers tweet about snow delay

The WGC-Accenture Match Play will attempt to get under way at 12:30 p.m. ET after a two-hour delay, but golfers aren’t expecting the snow-covered course to be ready.

The WGC-Accenture has been put on a two-hour delay, pushing the start time back to 10:30 a.m. local time, 12:30 p.m. ET, but golfers aren’t too confident the course will be ready even with the extra time.

UPDATE: The start time has been delayed an additional hour, pushing the start time to 1:30 p.m. ET.

Snow suspended opening-round play on Wednesday and, after the initial snow cleared, a second storm has the course covered in snow and golfers expecting further delays.

Ryan Lavner of the Golf Channel tweeted a picture at 9:45 a.m. ET of the Dove Mountain course, which looks far from ready for play.

Ian Poulter also took to Twitter and Instagram to voice his disbelief that the tournament would be ready to resume after a two-hour delay. He posted this picture from his Instagram account:

The temperature in Marana, Ariz. is supposed to approach 60 degrees later in the day, so at some point the snow should melt away and allow the golfers to resume. Nine first-round matches have yet to tee off, while the other 21 are all ongoing. Once play begins on Thursday, it should run until sundown as they try to fit in as many matches as possible.
