2013 British Open streaming: How to watch Friday’s round live online

Viewers won’t need to be in front of a TV to watch the second round of the British Open as there will also be online streams available.

ESPN’s coverage of the second round of the British Open will begin bright and early on Friday and once again viewers will be able to watch a lot of the action online.

While the live coverage won’t begin until 4 a.m. ET, ESPN’s second-round coverage starts online at 2:30 a.m. on ESPN3 with @TheOpen Live. The preview show will run until 4 a.m. when live coverage begins both on television and via multiple online streams. ESPN3 will offer viewers a few streaming options, including a dedicated stream of holes No. 1 and 18 and another stream featuring holes No. 7, No. 8 and No. 9.

Viewers will also have the option to watch an online simulcast of ESPN’s regular coverage. The general stream is available for international viewing and in Spanish as well. Live coverage will continue for at least 11 hours, running until 3 p.m. Coverage was extended on Thursday and the same could happen on Friday depending on the play on the course.

The streams will start in time for viewers to watch Tiger Woods’ second round in its entirety as Woods isn’t scheduled to tee off until 4:44 a.m. Mark O’Meara, who shot an opening round 67, will also be among the early coverage as he’ll hit the course at 2:05 a.m. First-round leader Zach Johnson will be featured late in the day, he’s scheduled to tee off at 10:07 a.m. Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy will go off at 9:45 a.m., two groups before Johnson.

In addition to the online streaming options, ESPN’s live coverage will be available on television. The network will also provide six hours of radio coverage, beginning at 7 a.m.
