2013 PGA Championship: Jason Dufner alone in the lead at 8-under

With four birdies and an eagle through 14 holes, Jason Dufner is 6-under on the day and now leading the PGA Championship by one stroke.

Dufner has been sharp in the second round, putting his tee shots in position to take advantage of prime scoring conditions, He made the turn at 31 and has kept rolling on the second nine. A birdie at No. 11 moved him into a tie for the lead, and he took over sole possession of the lead two holes later with a birdie on No. 13. Dufner is entering the difficult closing stretch, but if he’s able to avoid trouble, he has a good chance to hold the 36-hole lead.

Adam Scott posted 7-under and is joined in a second-place tie by Robert Garrigus and Jim Furyk. Garrigus is 4-under through 16 holes and Furyk is 2-under through 10. Furyk began his round with a birdie, but he didn’t record another one until No. 10.

Tiger Woods moved to 1-under on the round after back-to-back birdies at Nos. 5 and 6, but four pars and a bogey since dropped him back to even par. Woods hasn’t been as sharp as he’d like, especially off the tee. His frustration has been evident at times, including on No. 8 when he appeared disgusted after hitting his approach shot to 30 feet.

Woods is currently two shots clear of the projected cut. If he’s going to be factor into the weekend, he may need to make a run over his final few holes. He is currently nine strokes off the lead.
