The question "why do bad things always happen to good people?" wasn't written for Carles Puyol, but it should have been. The Barcelona captain who just returned after a month out due to a knee injury to start today against Benfica, is again facing a potential extended injury related absence.
Carles Puyol injury: Barcelona defender hurts arm against Benfica
Barcelona’s captain Carles Puyol, just back from a knee injury, appears to have suffered a dislocated shoulder or broken arm in the second half of his team’s Champions League match against Benfica.

In the 77th minute, Puyol took a bad fall and landed awkwardly on his arm. It was grotesque to see and immediately everyone in the stadium knew it was a serious injury. Puyol stayed down a few minutes before being helped on a cart, holding his arm close to his body with his opposite hand.
It’s way to early to know the extent of the injury but it really appears that if Puyol escapes without a dislocated shoulder or broken arm, it will be a near miracle.
No matter what the injury ends up being, Puyol is going to miss more time for Barcelona, once again causing Tito Vilanova problems in assembling a back line with Gerard Pique not yet back from a foot injury. A date with Real Madrid on Sunday only compounds the issue further.
We will have an update on the injury as soon as the team releases some information.
