Rule 1 of being an NFL fan: don’t buy your team’s newest rookie’s jersey, before they actually get on the team. It’s a horrible tactic no matter how excited you are for the NFL Draft. And it could to bite you in the butt.
This is why you don’t buy a new jersey BEFORE the NFL Draft
Jets fans got soooooooo giddy, this basically writes itself.
A Jets fan in my class bought a customized Marcus Mariota jersey. Classic Jets fan. pic.twitter.com/MTaDJV0Vze

— NFL on ESPN (@ESPNNFL) April 30, 2015 $220 for the wrong jersey? Either that’s super-fandom or super suspect. Cool pic though bro.
Sarasota's Tom Hedge bought Mariota Bucs jersey online for $220 in January. Said he's happy with either QB for Bucs. pic.twitter.com/6Rmiu5bZLn
— Greg Auman (@gregauman) April 30, 2015 This dude even gets it right. Except Jameis Winston ISN’T GOING TO WEAR NUMBER #5.
This @TBBuccaneers fan wants to see the team draft Jameis Winston. pic.twitter.com/BZeAu0HACg
— NFL on ESPN (@ESPNNFL) April 30, 2015 Just don’t do this, it’s not good for anyone.

Philly Radio host Angelo Cataldi even went as far as to get a Marcus Mariota jersey at Wing Bowl. He’s a professional. And he’s still making bad fan moves.
