It’s so cold in Minnesota that camera batteries are freezing, and it gets worse

— Dave Boling (@DaveBoling) January 10, 2016 A freezing cold, bone-chilling NFL Playoff game is exactly what everyone wants. Scratch that. It’s exactly what everyone who is in their warm house wants. For fans and players in Minnesota it’s something else entirely.
Maybe you forgot, but the Vikings are playing outside this year. They’re using the University of Minnesota’s field while their new stadium is under construction. So instead of getting a balmy dome game we’re back to those brutal outdoors Vikings games we only get to see on NFL films. It’s pretty great.
The fans are absolute maniacs in weather that will cause frostbite in a second.
There’s so much frost on the ground despite the sky being pure blue.
Temperatures near the stadium are showing even colder than reported.
This is the 4.5 MILLION BTU heater that will be trying to keep the field thawed out today.
Camera batteries aren’t working it’s so cold, so news crews are having to warm them with giant sideline heaters.
The Gjallarhorn shattered because it’s so cold!

— NFL (@NFL) January 10, 2016 This poor, poor man.
It’s historically cold!
It's -6 at the stadium with a -25 wind chill. It's officially the coldest game in #Vikings history, 3rd coldest in NFL history.
— Minnesota Vikings (@Vikings) January 10, 2016 Bud Grant served as Vikings coach before retiring in 1985. Despite being 88-years old he was a total boss who strut onto the field in a dang polo shirt.
Let it be known that this game will be really fun -- for everyone who doesn’t need to be in this weather.
