Saturday marks the first time that Kevin Durant is playing in Oklahoma City as a member of an away team. Ever since he left for the Warriors in the summer, it hasn’t been his home. But now, upon his return, he’s starting to realize that even more.
Kevin Durant wanted to rent out an Oklahoma City steakhouse but was turned down
Revenge is a dish best served medium rare.

Even spots that he frequented aren’t welcoming him with open arms. According to USA Today’s Sam Amick, Durant wanted to rent out Mahogany Steakhouse, the Oklahoma City restaurant he and the Thunder used to go to after games, but was denied by the establishment’s owner:
“We thought about it ... But we were like, ‘No, a lot of our Thunder players and fans come in after the game.’ So we said no, and then 15 or 20 minutes later they called back.”
It turns out the owner, Dave Osborn, reserves an area of the restaurant specifically for Thunder players after the games. Russell Westbrook often goes to the steakhouse and they have an unwritten rule that their private room is always reserved for Westbrook. If Osborn would have rented the place out to Durant, he would essentially have turned Thunder players and fans away for the evening.
You can call it loyalty to local customers or you can call it a jab at Durant for leaving Oklahoma City in the first place. It’s probably a mixture of both. Durant will have to dine elsewhere after his return.
