In the bottom of the third, the Rays had one out and runners on second and third for Carl Crawford, and they couldn't cash in. Almost instantly, now, they regret it. With two outs and the bases empty in the fourth, Nelson Cruz drove a low fastball deep off the center field wall for a double. On the next pitch, he took off for third in an attempt to catch the Rays by surprise, and catcher Kelly Shoppach's throw was wide of Evan Longoria. The ball having sailed into the outfield, Cruz sprinted home for the go-ahead run, and even though his decision to go was arguably a poor one - a good throw would've left him dead meat - it worked out in the end.
