Congratulations to all the people who were finally able to tune into the World Series after Cablevision and FOX arrived at a last-second agreement. Those people flipped on their televisions and watched as Colby Lewis worked around some early trouble.
World Series Game 3, Giants Vs. Rangers: Colby Lewis Escapes Early Jam
Following all the pre-game festivities - Nolan Ryan's first pitch, Kelly Clarkson's national anthem, Justin Bieber's video premiere - it was time for Lewis to take the mound and try to retire the top of the Giants order. Leading off was Andres Torres, and Torres bounced a weak grounder to first, where Lewis covered the bag and received the toss from Mitch Moreland before Torres arrived.
Next, Freddy Sanchez stood in and stayed hot, ripping a line drive base hit into right field to give the Giants an early baserunner.
Sanchez stayed on first when Aubrey Huff took an off balance swing and lifted a lazy fly into right, but then Buster Posey came up. Posey ripped a long fly down the right field line with home run distance, but it sailed just feet foul. Later in the plate appearance, Posey drew a walk to put two on with two out.
Lewis, though, was able to fan Pat Burrell to end the frame. His pitch count stands at 20 through an inning.
