Josh Beckett throwing no-hitter vs. Phillies through 7 innings

Josh Beckett has already thrown 100 pitches on Sunday, but the Phillies haven’t gotten a hit on any of them.

Josh Beckett has not allowed a hit through the first seven innings of the Dodgers' game against the Phillies on Sunday afternoon. He has thrown 100 pitches, though, so it might be difficult for him to finish out the no-no bid, even if he still hasn't given up a hit after the eighth.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles has backed up its starter with six runs. Adrian Gonzalez doubled home Dee Gordon in the first, Justin Turner homered in the second, and the Dodgers pushed across four more runs in the sixth and seventh frames.

Beckett, 34, was activated from the disabled list in April after missing the beginning of the year with a thumb sprain. His promising turnaround this year could always be derailed by another trip to the disabled list, so the Dodgers might not want to push their luck. He has posted a 2.89 ERA and had 46 strikeouts through 46⅔ innings before Sunday’s game.

The Dodgers last no-hitter took place on Sept. 17, 1996. Hideo Nomo allowed four base runners in what was the first no-hitter in Coors Field history. There have been 20 no-hitters in Dodgers history, with 10 coming since they moved to L.A.
