Josh Beckett completed the first no-hitter by a Dodgers pitcher since 1996 against the Phillies on Sunday afternoon. It was the first nine-inning no-hitter against Philly at home since 1969, and the first of Beckett's career.

Beckett became the 21st pitcher in Dodgers franchise history to throw a no-hitter.
The Dodgers backed up their starter with six runs and strong defense to combine for the first no-no of the year, the 21st in franchise history and the 11th since the club moved to Los Angeles.
Beckett, 34, has been incredible this season, coming into the game with a 2.89 ERA and 46 strikeouts in 46⅔ innings. He used 128 pitches to record all 27 outs without allowing a hit, and retired 23 hitters in a row before walking Jimmy Rollins with two outs in the ninth inning. He walked three and struck out six, including Chase Utley to end the game.
The last big league no-hitter was thrown by the Marlins’ Henderson Alvarez on Sept. 29, 2013. This season, there have been some close calls -- most notably, Yu Darvish’s near no-no in which he allowed a hit with two outs in the ninth for the second time in his career.
