UFC 137 Fight Card: Donald Cerrone Fills In For Injured Sam Stout Against Dennis Siver

For the second time in seven months, UFC lightweight Donald Cerrone (16-3) will fill a spot vacated by Canadian striker Sam Stout. According to ESPN's Brett Okamoto, the former-WEC contender has agreed to fight Dennis Siver (19-7) at UFC 137.

Stout withdrew from the planned bout earlier Monday afternoon for undisclosed reasons, though many have speculated that the recent death of trainer of brother-in-law Shawn Tompkins was an overriding factor. UFC officials have confirmed the official change to the card.

A 28-year-old kickboxing specialist out of Greg Jackson's camp, Cerrone was widely regarded as one of the most exciting fighters within the WEC's now-defunct lightweight division. Suffice to say, that style carried over into the UFC. Already with three fights under his belt this year, "Cowboy" quickly established himself as a threat in the 155 pound division with dominating victories over Paul Kelly, Vagner Rocha, and Charles Oliveira. The latter performance earned Cerrone "Knockout of the Night" honors on the main card of UFC on Versus 5.

Across the cage, Siver looks to blaze his own title trail after notching victories in seven of his first eight UFC appearances. The 32-year-old German striker was last seen at UFC 132, where he bested Matt Wiman via unanimous decision.

UFC 137 is headlined by a title unification match between UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz. The event is scheduled for October 29th at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
