UFC 137 Fight Card: Chris Camozzi Vs. Francis Carmont Confirmed For October

A middleweight bout between Chris Camozzi (15-4) and Francis Carmont (16-7) has been officially added to the fight card of UFC 137. The UFC confirmed the announcement Monday afternoon.

”A UFC newcomer faces a returning veteran as Francis “Limitless” Carmont and TUF alumni Chris Camozzi will go to war at UFC 137,” declared UFC officials on the promotion’s website.

Camozzi first rose to prominence with his short stint in the eleventh season of "The Ultimate Fighter." After being removed from the show with a broken jaw, the 24-year-old returned at the season finale, defeating James Hammortree via unanimous decision. Since then he has racked up a 2-1 record, last edging Strikeforce veteran Joey Villasenor via split decision at Shark Fights 15.

Across the cage, Carmont makes his long-awaited UFC debut on the heels of five straight wins, capped by a first round knockout of Octagon veteran Jason Day. A 29-yard-old Frenchman affectionately known as “Limitless,” the Muay Thai specialist trains alongside UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre in Montreal and will make his middleweight debut.

UFC 137 is slated for October 29th at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Headlining the card is a welterweight bout between St. Pierre and Carlos Condit for the UFC championship.
