Video of Tony Stewart’s sprint car wreck

Here is the video of Tony Stewart’s sprint car wreck Monday night that left the NASCAR driver with a broken leg in two places.

The video of the wreck that has sidelined Tony Stewart with broken right leg has surfaced.

At the time of the incident Stewart was leading with five laps remaining in the 30-lap sprint car feature at Southern Iowa Speedway. But as he raced through Turn 4, Stewart made contact with the lapped vehicle of Josh Higday causing his car to flip multiple times before landing upright:

The NASCAR driver was responsive and talking when track officials removed him from his car. Stewart was then transported to a local hospital and immediately underwent surgery for a broken right tibia and fibula.

Stewart, a three-time Cup champion, was 11th in Sprint Cup Series points with five regular-season races remaining. But because of his June victory at Dover, he was in position to claim a spot in NASCAR’s Chase via a wild card.

Stewart-Haas Racing has already announced that Stewart is out for this weekend’s Cup race at Watkins Glen. He is expected to miss additional races as he recovers from his injuries. The team has not yet named a replacement driver.
