After Rajon Rondo played through yet another injury, this time a sprained ankle, in the Celtics’ 118-116 win over the New York Knicks on Friday night, Celtics fans implored the team to consider letting Rondo sit out some games to heal. It looks like the Celtics are on the same page.
In a radio interview on WEEI, general manager Danny Ainge said the team has decided to let Rondo sit out for “a couple weeks.” Via Paul Flannery:

Rajon Rondo has suffered through a ton of nagging injuries this season, and you can now add a sprained ankle to the list. Rondo suffered that injury in the fourth quarter of the Celtics’ 118-116 win over the Knicks on Wednesday night. He played through it, but there’s a good chance he will have to sit out on Thursday when the Celtics take on the Atlanta Hawks.
But there are some people who believe Rondo should sit out even longer than that. At 20-4, the Celtics have given themselves some breathing room to come back to the back should they decide to sit Rondo.
