Clippers Vs. Heat: Dwyane Wade’s 28 Leads Miami Past Blake Griffin, L.A.

The Miami Heat took 28 points from Dwyane Wade in a Sunday afternoon 97-79 win over Blake Griffin and the visiting L.A. Clippers. Wade added eight rebounds and eight assists in 37 minutes. Griffin, for his part, finished with a tough 21 points and 16 rebounds despite being the obvious focus of Miami's defense.

LeBron James was rather bad, finishing with 12 points on 6-15 shooting, and six turnovers. Wade and James combined for 10 of Miami's 13 turnovers. Baron Davis had seven giveaways for the Clips. Davis did have six assists and five steals, though, and looked alright despite the turnover problems.

Poor shooting did L.A. in; that the Clips hung on as long as they did was a minor victory. Randy Foye shot 5-16, Al-Farouq Aminu was 0-7 off the bench and Eric Bledsoe shot 0-5. L.A. shot 32 percent as a team, and was as low as 29 percent in the fourth.

Things got testy midway through the fourth quarter after Eddie House shoved Griffin as the All-Star rookie prepared to take off for a breakaway alley-oop. House was initially assessed a Flagrant-2 and an automatic ejection, but upon video review, the officials downgraded the infraction to a Flagrant-1. The Heat's announcers that the shove was incidental. Ha!

The play provided a spark for the Heat, for some reason, as Miami quickly ran away with the game once the review delay ended. House hit three three-pointers in the fourth on his way to 15 points, third highest among Heat players.
