The Los Angeles Lakers poured it on in the second half to easily drop the Dallas Mavericks at Staples Center, but it was the animosity between the two teams that stole the show. As the Lakers pulled away, Dallas’ frustration hit a boiling point as a hard Jason Terry foul ignited a shoving match. In all, five players — three from Los Angeles and two for Dallas — were ejected and three technicals were handed out.
Lakers Vs. Mavericks Final Score: Fights Overshadow 110-82 Win By Los Angeles
The Lakers easily won, 110-82, but it was more of a subplot by the time it all ended. Kobe Bryant led the way with a game-high 28 points while Dirk Nowitzki matched him step for step with 27 points. But it was the supporting casts that made the difference as the Lakers’ stepped up and the Mavs’ was missing in action.
Other than Nowitzki, only Peja Stojakovic and Jose Juan Barea were in double-figures with 13 and 10 points, respectively. Five Lakers, including Bryant, were in double-figures, allowing the Lakers to take control and run away from the Mavs down the stretch. Pau Gasol finished with 19 points, Andrew Bynum had 18, Lamar Odom had 16 and Ron Artest had 13.
