Boris Diaw Signs With San Antonio Spurs After Buyout From Charlotte Bobcats, According To Report

As expected, Boris Diaw has signed with the San Antonio Spurs. The ninth-year forward, who was just bought out by the Charlotte Bobcats right after the NBA trade deadline, will play for the Spurs for the rest of the season, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski. The signing comes just before the deadline to have bought-out players be eligible to play in the postseason.

Diaw has made a career for himself as an unselfish big man, but poor conditioning and a reluctance to score caused him to fall out of favor with a woeful Bobcats team. The Spurs hope he can function as a backup inside behind Tim Duncan and DeJuan Blair. They also hope his decision-making as a big man will be a good fit in their offensive system.

Diaw was averaging just 7.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game in 27.5 minutes with the Bobcats this season. The Spurs will be his fourth team.
