Amar’e Stoudemire Injury: Knicks Forward To Have MRI On Ailing Back, According To Report

Knicks forward Amar’e Stoudemire injured his back against the Detroit Pistons and is getting an MRI to assess the severity of the injury, according to a report.

Presswire

New York Knicks power forward Amar'e Stoudemire will have an MRI to look at a back injury that is similar to the one that plagued him in the playoffs last season, reports Frank Isola of the New York Daily News.

Stoudemire's back tightened up during the Knicks' 101-79 win over the Detroit Pistons on Saturday night, coach Mike Woodson said. That explained why Stoudemire did not play during the entire fourth quarter. Last season, Stoudemire suffered a back injury that rendered him ineffective beyond Game 2 of the Knicks' first-round playoff series against the Boston Celtics.

Losing Stoudemire would be a blow to the Knicks as they look to solidify a playoff spot. After struggling early in the season, Stoudemire is averaging 18 points and 8 rebounds per game on 56 percent shooting in the month of March.
