Kevin Love has been cleared to return to Minneapolis after suffering a mild concussion last night in the Timberwolves' game against the Denver Nuggets. Love, however, will not play in Minnesota's Thursday night game against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Timberwolves announced that his status remains unchanged, and did not provide a timetable for when, or if, Love would return this season. Via Timberwolves.com:
Kevin Love Injury: Timberwolves Power Forward Will Not Play Against Clippers
After further evaluation today, Love’s diagnosis remains unchanged and he has been cleared to return to Minneapolis. He will not play in tonight’s game vs. the L.A. Clippers. In the upcoming days, Love will be further evaluated by the Timberwolves medical staff, and an update to his status will be provided when warranted.
Love took an elbow to the head from JaVale McGee in the first quarter of Wednesday night's game. He instantly went down and remained on the floor, woozy, before being helped to the locker room. The Timberwolves are out of the Western Conference playoff race and have only seven games remaining this season. They could opt to shut down Love, one of the most productive players in the league, for the final two weeks of the year.
