Amar’e Stoudemire Injury: Knicks Forward Says ‘Great Chance’ He’ll Play In Game 4 Vs. Heat Sunday

Amar'e Stoudemire made national headlines on Monday night when he punched a fire extinguisher housing immediately after leaving the court following the New York Knicks' Game 2 loss against the Miami Heat in the opening round of the 2012 NBA Playoffs.

Stoudemire required immediate medical attention for a laceration on his hand and the injury was serious enough to warrant surgery on Tuesday. All indications were that Stoudemire would be out for the remainder of the series. Stoudemire, however, is remaining optimistic.

Al Iannazzone of New York Newsday reported on Wednesday that Stoudemire thinks there is a “great chance” that he will be able to play in Game 4 on Sunday, which will be at Madison Square Garden.

Stoudemire was already playing through a back injury in the playoff series, so it wouldn’t be too surprising if he intends to push through and return for what may very well be the final game in the series. Either way, he will definitely be out of action for Game 3.
