The injury-plagued Milwaukee Bucks got some rare good news when center Larry Sanders returned from a thumb injury to practice on Thursday. He is expected to play Friday against the Brooklyn Nets, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Charles F. Gardner.

Milwaukee Bucks center Larry Sanders is expected to play Friday after sitting out nearly two months with a thumb injury suffered in a bar fight.

Sanders played in three regular season games before tearing a ligament in his thumb during a bar fight in downtown Milwaukee. The 6’11 shotblocking center, who has been out of action since Nov. 3, signed a four-year, $44 million contract extension this summer, but he found himself in the headlines prior to his legal incident -- Sanders was charged with two civil citations but had criminal charges against him dropped. Sanders publicly voiced displeasure about how coach Larry Drew was utilizing him.

The center out of Virginia Commonwealth was playing just 17.3 minutes and averaging 2.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and two blocks per game. He was also shooting a miserable 25 percent from the floor sitting behind center Zaza Pachulia to start the year.
Sanders should immediately have a chance to earn his minutes under Drew. Pachulia is out with a broken foot, and the Bucks have been running out a young frontcourt of rookie Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton and inexperienced big man Miroslav Raduljica.
