Although criminal charges were dropped against Sanders for his involvement in the bar fight, WISN was first to report on Wednesday that the Bucks center will be cited for assault and battery and disorderly conduct, both of which are municipal charges.
Sanders was accused of breaking bottles over the heads of two men and also throwing punches, but the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s office initially said that, after a police investigation, it was unclear who started the fight and how it began.
Sanders injured his thumb in the incident and was scheduled to miss about six weeks after undergoing surgery. It's not exactly what fellow NBA player Kevin Garnett meant in his well-known public reference to a bar fight.
Sanders is expected to return at the end of December or in early January.
The Bucks signed Sanders to a four-year, $44 million contract extension this offseason, but first-year coach Larry Drew had favored Zaza Pachulia over the lanky big man out of VCU. In three games before the injury, Sanders averaged 2.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and two blocks per game.
