New York to LeBron: ‘Can you not?’

We have that and more in Tuesday’s NBA newsletter.

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers went to New York on Monday and ... it was a lot. LeBron slithered out of controversy by ripping up Phil Jackson, he clowned Enes Kanter, he caused a meme on the subway, he got into a minor scuffle with Frank Ntilikina and, by extension, Kanter, he got booed by Madison Square Garden, he watched his team trail by 15 to the Knicks in the fourth quarter, he led a comeback, he hit the go-ahead three over Kristaps Porzingis for the win, he continued his beef with Kanter after the game, he got in one more shot at Jackson, and he sparked another round of Arthur memes from his teammates.

All in a day’s work.

I have seven reasons the Jazz are in deep trouble now that Rudy Gobert is out four-to-six weeks.

Just how good is Jayson Tatum? He’d be the clubhouse leader for Rookie of the Year if not for Ben Simmons. Speaking of which ...

Simmons dunk party in L.A.!

Joel Embiid was in rare form during and after the Sixers’ win against the Clippers. He had 32 and 16. He trolled the crowd after DeAndre Jordan fouled out. And he forgot poor Willie Reed’s name.

Kristaps Porzingis wore a weird hat. We have some alternatives.

Look, the situation that the Bulls have put Nikola Mirotic in is straight-up ridiculous. Bobby Portis has been back from suspension for a few days now. Mirotic is now on the practice court after Portis caved his face in. The Bulls are essentially telling Mirotic to suck it up and deal. I trust the reporting that both parties instigated the dispute which led to the sucker punch ... but only one guy swung. The victim of the punch shouldn’t be left to suck it up when they are both back at work a few weeks later. This is unreal.

I just want to be in the first car of the Kevon Looney Hype Train.

Nicolas Batum back!

Up next: light schedule with just three games on Tuesday, including Celtics-Nets on NBA TV (7:30 p.m. ET).

Be excellent to each other.
