The Kentucky Wildcats are off to a rough start in the SEC, dropping their first two road games, including a 68-66 loss to Alabama on Tuesday night. The Wildcats fell behind in the first half and didn’t wake up until the last 10 minutes, finally stringing together a run and clawing back into the game. In the end, though, they couldn’t finish the job, doomed by last-second steal by Alabama’s Ben Eblen on a sloppy play all-around.
Kentucky Wildcats Basketball Season Teetering After Loss To Alabama
The two road losses are a discouraging sign and put the Wildcats’ season in a perilous position just four games into the conference slate, according to SB Nation’s A Sea of Blue.
In closing, this is a major loss for UK and puts their season in a bad place. Yes, they can still win the SEC, but there are storm flags flying high now in the Bluegrass, because an 0-2 road record is an unmistakable sign of weakness that the NCAA committee will not fail to notice, nor will the rest of the SEC. Kentucky’s season just took a hit amidships below the waterline, and the USS Wildcat is taking on more water that the bilge pumps alone can remove.
The Wildcats have to get it on track quickly as they hit the road again to face South Carolina on Saturday.
