No. 17 Syracuse Leads No. 11 Georgetown, 33-23, At Halftime

Midway through the Big East’s marquee game of the day, Syracuse is up 33-23 on Georgetown and halfway to returning the favor the Hoyas paid the Orange with a win at the Carrier Dome earlier this month.

James Southerland leads all scorers with nine points for Syracuse, and the Orange have limited the Hoyas from the field: Georgetown is just nine-of-26 at the half, and has made just two of 12 threes.

The Hoyas also miss Chris Wright dearly. They’ve committed nine turnovers and have just five assists, and Scoop Jardine’s seven points and seven assists have helped lead the Orange. Clearly, losing a possible all-conference performer at the point isn’t something the Hoyas will be able to merely shrug off.

Austin Freeman leads Georgetown with seven points. He’s also made just three of eight shots and has three turnovers. Henry Sims has provided some help off the bench, with six points on just three shots.
