After weathering a run that gave Georgetown the lead and another that cut a late lead to a single possession, Syracuse prevailed in their Big East conference showdown against the Hoyas, 58-51.

It wasn’t easy at the end for Syracuse, despite the Orange holding the Hoyas without a field goal for more than seven minutes down the stretch and finishing the game on a 15-6 run. Austin Freeman, who led Georgetown with 16 points and was one of two Hoyas in double digits (Jason Clark had 11 points), made two free throws to cut the Orange lead to three points with just over a minute left, but the Hoyas couldn’t get any closer than that.
The win moves Syracuse to 24-6 on the season and drops Georgetown to 21-7.
