Matt Painter, Purdue Boilermakers basketball coach, is meeting with the Missouri Tigers Tuesday, according to reports by the Missourian and others. Former Purdue coach Gene Keady confirmed the reports, saying Painter met with Purdue Tuesday morning.
Matt Painter Meeting With Missouri About Basketball Coaching Job Tuesday
Purdue has publicly made a pitch to keep Painter, enlisting the Board of Trustees and various other important individuals in an effort to keep the basketball coach in Indiana. That might have been a good idea, as what appears to some to be a sideways or even backwards move could be more about resources than anything else, though Mizzou’s reported salary offer is significantly higher than Purdue’s.
To that end, Purdue’s associate athletic director has chastised boosters for not donating enough money to keep Painter. Sounds like a hoot!
