Rotnei Clarke Chooses Butler Over Oklahoma After Leaving Arkansas

Rotnei Clarke, the 6-foot guard who was able to get his release from Arkansas earlier this year, has decided to transferto Butler. Clarke, an Oklahoma native, had been rumored to be leaning toward transferring to the Sooners.

“It just felt like the best fit for me,” Clarke told CBSSports.com. “It was a tough decision, especially with me being from Oklahoma.”

“Coach (Brad) Stevens is an unbelievable guy and obviously, they’ve had tremendous success the last few years,” he added. “I really liked the players on the team. They seemed like more than just teammates.”

Clarke will be eligible play during the 2012-13 season after sitting out this year. Clarke averaged 15.2 points per game and connected on 44 percent of his 3-point attempts last season. According to the CBSSports.com report, Clarke was scared off because of possible sanctions against the Oklahoma basketball program.

Clarke said that he’s hoping to be able to transition into more of a point guard during his year off.
