Wasn’t the strength of LSU’s team supposed to be its defense? For the second time this year, that unit is being exposed.
LSU Vs. Mississippi: Rebels Running Roughshod, Lead 32-29
Jeremiah Masoli executed a read option to perfection, squirting up the middle for a 22-yard touchdown on a third and 5, and gave the Rebels the lead.
The Rebels then failed to extend the lead beyond 30-29, as Masoli threw over an open receiver’s head on the two-point conversion. But for Mississippi State, forcing LSU’s offense to hold serve is a victory on its own, even if a kickoff out of bounds will give Les Miles’ team a chance to do that from very good field position.
Mississippi’s doing to LSU’s rush defense what only Auburn and Cam Newton had done previously; the Rebels have over 200 yards on the ground, and have become the second squad with a mobile quarterback to befuddle LSU this season.
