We've just under eight minutes to play in the first half of the 2010 Iron Bowl, and it looks like Auburn's finally gearing up to maybe score some points in this thing. Putting the ball in the air appears to be the answer, as erstwhile quarterback Kodi Burns catches two passes for 19 and 13 yards to set up scoring position, and Emery Blake pulls down a 36-yard touchdown pass from Cam Newton.
Alabama appears poised to answer, but a drive highlighted by a 10-yard Darius Hanks catch, a 24-yard Julio Jones catch, a 17-yard Mark Ingram catch, and an 11-yard Preston Dial catch, Greg McElroy can't get one off fast enough and is sacked at the Tigers' 8-yard line by Nick Fairley, who recovers the ensuing fumble.
Newton lofts a nice pass to Darvin Adams to move the Tigers closer to field-goal range to end the half, but the Crimson Tide have some sacking plans of their own, and on third down they bring down the lumbering giant for the fourth time in the first half. The Tigers, ominously, choose to punt with 11 seconds remaining in the half, and the Iron Bowl combatants head to the locker rooms with Alabama leading, 24-7.
