Well, when I wrote that Oklahoma State had the firepower to get back in this game quickly, I didn’t mean on defense.
Oklahoma State Vs. Oklahoma: Pick-Six Gives Cowboys New Life
But Cowboys cornerback Shaun Lewis just snagged Landry Jones’ second interception of the night and took it 52 yards to paydirt, helping Oklahoma State cut the Sooners’ lead to 14-10. That qualifies as firepower, or at least as a tiny measure of pyrotechnics.
It’s also a promising sign for an Oklahoma State defense that has had a tough time slowing down the Sooners’ fast-paced attack so far. And the turnover disease may be contagious: Trey Franks fumbled on the kickoff, though Oklahoma recovered, and then dropped a pass on the first play of the subsequent drive.
If nothing else, it seems like the Bedlam Game may have some authentic pandemonium shortly. For a game that started quite sleepily, that is a very good development, and for the Cowboys, who seem to have momentum, a shootout may be just what the offense ordered.
