Florida starting quarterback John Brantley has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Auburn Tigers, according to head coach Will Muschamp. This could mean another game time decision for the Gators at quarterback, between freshmen Jacoby Brissett and Jeff Driskel. Driskel missed last week's loss to LSU with an ankle injury, giving Brissett the starting nod. Muschamp acknowledged that Driskel could reenter the mix this week though Brissett would practice initially as if he is the starter.
John Brantley Injury Update: Will Sit Vs. Auburn, According To Will Muschamp
Brissett looked every bit the freshman last week, going 8-for-14 passing for 94 yards and two interceptions to one touchdown. The performance was almost admirable in the face of one of the best defenses in college football, however. Unfortunately, the loss dropped Florida just out of both polls this week.
The Gators don't get much of a reprieve Saturday after facing arguably the two best teams in the country in consecutive weeks. The Tigers will try to regroup from a blowout loss of their own, going down 38-14 to the Arkansas Razorbacks. The game is at Auburn, however, in front of a nighttime crowd that is sure to be electric.
