In a see-saw battle, the Virginia Tech Hokies were on the right side of the playground ride, scoring ten points in the fourth quarter to down Georgia Tech on Thursday night, 37-26. It was a game that followed a pattern: one team dominated one quarter, then the roles were reversed. While Georgia Tech had the first and third quarters, Virginia Tech took the second and fourth, the former of which played a key part in its win.

Virginia Tech put up 21 points in the second to head into the half with an eight-point lead. In the third, Georgia Tech reclaimed on two one-yard Tevin Washington touchdowns. But Virginia Tech battled back, taking the lead on a touchdown late in the third quarter. And over the final 15 minutes, the Hokies added another ten points, turning the one-point lead into an 11-point win on Thursday night.
It was a battle of the quarterbacks, with Washington and Virginia Tech quarterback Logan Thomas accounting for a significant portion of their respective offensive production. Washington carried the ball 24 times for 77 yards and all three of the Yellow Jackets’ touchdowns. Thomas threw for three touchdowns and rushed for another two in the Hokies’ win.
