Incredibly, though the SEC West rules the top three in both the USA Today and AP polls for Week 13, the conference’s championship game is only half-filled because of that division.
College Football Standings: SEC Championship Game Waiting On West Winner
LSU, Alabama, and Arkansas are all theoretically alive in the SEC West, and the Razorbacks could force a three-way tie atop the division with a win over LSU this Friday; all three teams would be 7-1 in conference if Arkansas and Alabama win in Week 13. But that win might not get Arkansas to Atlanta, because a three-way tie would come down to BCS standings, and LSU is likely to remain No. 1 in them with or without a win this week.
Arkansas’ best chance of crashing the SEC Championship Game: beating LSU, and getting an Auburn upset of Alabama in the Iron Bowl. That would create a two-way tie in the division between 7-1 LSU and 7-1 Arkansas, and Arkansas would earn the division title thanks to its head-to-head win against LSU.
No matter what team wins the West, Georgia awaits in Atlanta. The Bulldogs clinched the SEC East by taking care of Kentucky on Saturday.
